Construction of Stage 2 of the Bunbury Catholic College in Australind includes works comprising two new Teaching Blocks to match existing. The first an EALS block with general learning areas, break-out spaces, staff areas and a toilet block. The second a new Science Block with state of the art physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories.
Both buildings are two storey construction comprising in-situ reinforced concrete frame with structural steel framed roof, vast quantities of face brickwork to the walls, Colorbond roof and wall cladding. Architectural features include composite aluminium cladding, glazed curtain walling to entries, & fabricated aluminium window surrounds.
Internally the fit-out incorporates high-end features including perforated timber veneer ceiling panels, complemented strip LED lighting, clear finish ply wall linings, and hard-wearing compact laminate bespoke joinery to Science laboratories. The Building is characterised by a feature curved staircase formed with concrete to the Eals building, & also a double volume decorative timber entry gallery to the Science building. The new buildings are interconnected to the existing with Danpolan covered walkways. External works comprise washed aggregate coloured concrete hardstands to complement the building colours, including curved integral seating, brick paving, soft landscaping, car parking and stormwater drainage including construction of stormwater basins.
